SHS Fives U13's National Champions and More

The National School Girls Fives Tournament was held at Oundle, and our U13, U14, U16 and U18 girls squads had a great day competing. The competition had Stamford facing many schools playing Rugby, Marlborough, Alleyns, Edinburgh Academy, City of Durham and Eastbourne. The girls in older age groups found the going tough as they were all a year young (being Y10 and Y12) in U16 and U18 playing against more experience opponents – Georgie C (Y10) reached the singles plate final but unfortunately lost to her opponent from Edinburgh. In the junior age groups the girls had fantastic success – Bea G reached the Singles Final where she lost against a very strong opponent from Alleyns, so finished with a silver medal. However, with Tilly S she had her revenge in the doubles, they saw off the opposition to become U13 Doubles Champions!Flo C and Emily T also played really well to take the doubles silver, whilst Ruby W teamed up with an Alleyns girls in the U14 and won the Plate (bronze) doubles.lead coach, Mr Smith said "I am very proud of all the Stamford pupils who played so well all day, many of them playing a year young for the U16 and U18 age groups. They showed great enthusiasm, skill and tenacity, and it bodes very well for the future of fives at Stamford".To see more on fives click here.Banner 2021 - Sport Girls
