Phoebe's team wins the League Cup

A Year 11 student at Stamford High School has won the League Cup with her team, Peterborough United U16.Phoebe has been playing football since the age of 7 and with Peterborough since she was 11 years old. She began playing at her primary school before being scouted by a West Bromwich Albion coach.Phoebe was invited to Northamptonshire Skills extra and from there on to Northamptonshire Advanced Coaching Centre (ACC), which is on the England Woman’s Talent Pathway. Phoebe started playing county football there and gained 20 county caps before she left them. She now plays county football alongside Peterborough United and this year they entered their first U16 team in the Cambridgeshire Women’s and Girls League.Phoebe said: "it was tough competition however we won the league! We had to play everyone in the league twice totalling up to 18 games. Some of the games were tough, we’ve played some very talented teams and it was a close race to finish at the top of the league with a team called Coton Girls. This is the first time the women’s team has played in a league and to win and it is a huge success for the club."Phoebe's next step is to trial for the Ladies teams this month and the ISFA U18’s National Representative Team in September. For more news from Football at the Stamford Schools, please click here.Sports banner
