Pet Portrait Sales Fundraise for Food Bank

A student at Stamford Sixth Form has raised money for the Stamford Food Bank through the sale of her commissioned artwork.Gabby B, Year 13, has used her time during lockdown to raise £280 through selling oil paintings of pet portraits, having completed 12 paintings to date. This fundraising contribution follows the Stamford Endowed Schools donation, earlier in the pandemic, of foodstuffs to The Stamford Foodbank and Second Helpings - read more here.Gabby said: “As a Year 13 at Stamford High School, I’ve been painting animals for my A Level Art course. When lockdown started, I couldn’t go to School and so thought that I would continue painting and raise some money for a good cause.“I chose to support the Stamford Food Bank because I knew about them through the donation scheme at school. I wanted to find a way that I could raise funds for them, as their work to combat poverty and hunger makes a real difference in the local community.“I’ve raised £280 by painting pet portraits, mostly of cats and dogs. These took quite a long time, but with school closed it was nice to put my art skills to good use!”Gabby joins a growing number of current students and former pupils of the Stamford Endowed Schools to be using their lockdown time and creative abilities to raise money for the community.Former pupils Annabelle Wells and Amelia Hubbard have cumulatively raised over £700 for ‘NHS Charities Together’ through the sale of their artwork prints (read more) and handmade jewellery (read more), respectively, with the Schools’ Sixth Form prefects currently completing a walking challenge to fundraise for The FireFighters charity (read more).
