New Chair of Governors

The Stamford Endowed Schools is pleased to announce its new Chair of Governors. Mr Tom Cartledge was the unanimous choice of the Governing Body after a thorough recruitment process supported by RSAcademics. Tom will take up the role in July at the end of this summer term.

Tom is Lincolnshire born and bred and is CEO of his family group of design based companies. He has two children at Stamford School in Year 7 and Year 9 and is passionate about the school, its development, progress and growth. Tom comments: “We chose the Stamford Schools for our children for the academic and sporting ambition of the school as well as sense of community the school emulates. I very much hope to bring my passion and support of the schools in my new role as Chair of Governors as well as helping the Governing Body to continue to deliver pastoral excellence, the class of 2030 student and shape a school that we are all engaged with.”

Alongside his business interests Tom has recently raised £25m of government funding to develop seven new education pathways in Newark where he is also on the board of his local rugby club.

Principal of the Stamford Endowed Schools, Mr Will Phelan, commented: “We had a very strong field of applicants, but Tom immediately jumped out to me as someone who understood the ethos and values of Stamford, and who will continue to drive the ambition of the Governing Body. I’m very much looking forward to working with Tom over the next few years”.
