Interim Head announced for Stamford School

Mr Nick Davies, current Senior Deputy Head at Stamford School, will take over as Interim Head from this September, following the departure of Nick Gallop at the end of this academic year.Mr Davies has served as Senior Deputy Head since September 2018, and has established himself as a talented leader, well respected by staff and parents alike. As well as serving as an officer in both the Royal Navy and later in the Army Reserves, he has since worked at a number of prestigious schools, including Hampton School and most recently at Haileybury where he was a Head of Department and Boarding Housemaster. Will Phelan, Principal of the Stamford Endowed Schools, said: “Nick has impressed us all over the past three and a half years. He has worked exceptionally hard for Stamford School, and has made a real contribution to the Stamford Endowed Schools overall. We are delighted that he is stepping up to take on the interim Headship of Stamford School. I know that the students and staff will join me in offering our sincere congratulations. I am looking forward to working with Nick in his new role from September.”Nick Davies said: “I feel both honoured and delighted to have been selected to act as interim Headmaster of Stamford School. I would like to thank Nick Gallop, a passionate educator, for his incredible leadership and phenomenal support, which  have been invaluable to me and the wider school over the last few years. It has been wonderful to work alongside him for four years as his Senior Deputy. He has taught me a great deal. Next year we, like every school, must look forward and strive to make the most of future opportunities. However, my first responsibility will be to make sure that the experience of every student at our school, every single day, is as enlightening, as inspiring and as enjoyable as possible.”The Schools are currently in the process of considering a move to become fully co-educational. The outcome of that process will determine the future structure for the senior leadership of the schools, and the appointment of a permanent Head will be considered once that process is complete.
