Evie, a Year 7 student at Stamford School, has been awarded the prestigious Cicero Cup after an intense competition in the KS3 Debating Club. The contest saw Evie and three other KS3 pupils showcase their debating skills, while their peers took on the roles of judges and timers. The challenge involved three round-robin debates on topics chosen by the club members, culminating in a three-way tie.
To break the tie, the pupils were given a short prep pitch task on the theme “Why I should be the next Stamford School Head.” They had to identify the most pressing issue at Stamford School today and propose viable solutions. Topics ranged from improving the lunch queue to addressing the potential impact of VAT on school fees. Evie clinched victory with her well-thought-out solutions, demonstrating exceptional insight and clarity.
Congratulations to Evie on her impressive achievement!
