Equestrian Success for Stamford

The Stamford Endowed Schools are celebrating Show Jumping success, after two teams have become Lincolnshire county champions, and qualified for the National Show Jumping Championships, held at Hartpury College in April. To add to their success, three of the students have additionally qualified to compete at the prestigious international Royal Windsor Horse Show in May.Seven students entered the competition, held by the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) at Epworth Equestrian, competing in three classes across a highly technical course.win for Stamford at show jumpingThe 105cm team, made up of Natasha W, Year 8, Jemima H, Year 9, Izzy K, Year 10 and Sophie G, Year 12, won their class, therefore qualifying, and defending their county champion title. James W, Year 10, scored a well-earned 3rd place individually.In the 95cm class, Natasha, Izzy, James and Sophie scored 1st place, also qualifying for the Nationals, and winning them a well-earned place at the Windsor Horse Show. Henry Wharton, Year 10 scored an individual 5th place.Tom W, Year 8, Natasha and Henry entered the 85cm class, coming 3rd as a team with Tom scoring 4th individually, and Henry achieving 6th.The team’s co-ordinator, Jayne Wagstaffe, said:” What made this competition special is that all of the students, regardless of age or gender, compete at an equal level. All pupils rode brilliantly over a technical course and should be hugely proud of their achievements!”
