Choirs delight at triennial Malcolm Sargent Concert

Saturday 23rd March saw the triennial celebration of the life of Malcolm Sargent, for the first time staged at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester. Bach’s sublime St John Passion was performed by a 200 strong chorus made up of the combined choirs of Stamford Endowed Schools and the Stamford Choral Society, supported by a professional orchestra, the Musical and Amicable Society, and professional soloists.Principal of the Stamford Endowed Schools, Will Phelan, commented: ‘I felt honoured to be part of this concert which was a fitting tribute to Sir Malcolm Sargent.  I would like to thank the organising committee and the Schools’ Director of Music, Giles Turner, all our performers, and our local supporters. This evening shows the very best of the Stamford community.’
