Charlotte Wins Gold at the National Schools Regatta

A student at the Stamford Schools has won Gold at the National Schools Regatta, winning the final with an impressive 11 second lead.Charlotte B, Year 13, and her doubles partner have raced in the Championship Girls 2x category at the National Schools Regatta. After comfortably placing first in the time trial, the pair went on to win the final with an 11 second lead.Charlotte first started rowing (on water) through Stamford High School's 'learn to row' course, when she joined the School in Year 7. Both Charlotte and her rowing partner joined Peterborough City Rowing Club where she was selected for the GB Rowing World Class Start Programme. She now trains twice a day almost everyday, equalling 12 training sessions a week, with the majority of that time spent on the water. The National Schools Regatta has been running since 1947 and has grown to a world class event enjoyed by competitors aged 14 to 18 at various clubs and schools across the UK.Future competitions for Charlotte include Henley Women’s Regatta, the British Rowing Junior Championships and Henley Royal Regatta.Charlotte said: “I would one day love to represent Great Britain in an international competition such as a World Championships or the Olympics.”Her advice for success is “to increase your success rate, double your failure rate, behind the scenes of winning competitions comes a lot of disappointing results during training and racing.”We wish Charlotte the best of luck with future competitions.Charlotte Bolton - RowingFor more news on rowing at Stamford, please click here.Sports banner
