Award winning photo journalist visits Stamford Endowed Schools to speak on North Korea

The Stamford Endowed Schools were delighted to recently welcome the renowned writer, broadcaster and award-winning photo-journalist, Jeremy Hunter, to lecture to an audience of over 400 in the Oswald Elliot Hall on “North Korea Exposed – Daily Life in the Hermit Kingdom”. Jeremy’s talk which covered his experiences during his time spent in North Korea, formed part of the Schools’ Foundation Lectures. With North Korea making headline news on a daily basis, there has rarely been a more salient time to hear about this ‘State without Parallel’. With continuing escalating tensions between Washington and Pyongyang threatening global security, Jeremy’s acclaimed presentation shines a light into this little-known corner of the world.Having first entered North Korea shortly after the death Kim Jong-Il, Jeremy has compiled an extraordinary record of life in one of the most secretive and isolated states on Earth. His lectures have been delivered to a wide range of audiences and he has recently had the honour of presenting it to Members of both the Houses of Parliament and the Palace of Westminster. Will Phelan, Principal of the Stamford Endowed Schools commented,
“We were incredibly privileged to have hosted Jeremy Hunter here at Stamford and to have gained such a valuable insight into true life in North Korea. With the current political landscape and international relations with North Korea as erratic as they are, the lecture was extremely timely and was incredibly well received by the audience.”
The Schools Foundation Lectures series has hosted talks from Andy McNab, Dr Alice Roberts and Dan Cruickshank over the course of the 2017-2018 academic year.
