Stamford School has once again showcased its exceptional debating talent through two exciting events: the KS3 House Debating competition and the prestigious English-Speaking Union (ESU) Schools’ Debating Mace.
KS3 House Debating
Exeter won the trophy after an exciting final on the motion “This House would ban smartphones for U16s”.
A special shout-out to the four Year 11s who judged the KS3 house debating competition: Noah, Rebecca, Bear and Sienna. They were fantastic role models, giving feedback and constructive advice to the teams at the end of each round.
English-Speaking Union Schools’ Debating Mace
This week, Tessa (Y12) Rebecca and Noah (Y11) were part of the Stamford team that won the first round of this prestigious national competition opposing the motion, “This House would implement a four-day school week”.
One school had dropped out of the round, so Bear (Y11) and Fin (Y12) stepped up at the last minute to provide a ‘swing team’ to give Bishop Stopford School the opportunity to debate. The team is looking forward to the next round in January, hosted by Stamford School.
