The Stamford Schools is delighted to confirm it has been listed once again in the top 100 of Senior Schools of The Cricketers 2024 Schools Guide to the UK’s best schools for cricket.
Tom Brett, Director of Cricket at Stamford Schools, comments: “I am delighted that Stamford Schools has made the top 100 cricketing schools and huge credit must go to all the staff that contribute to making the cricket programme a successful one. Thanks to everyone who coaches and umpires and all the behind the scenes support we receive. A special mention must go to Michael O’Connor who heads up the girl’s programme at Stamford and to Andrew Doig who looks after the Junior School, both do these roles as well as supporting me with the 1st XI.”
The Stamford Schools has a long and prestigious history of producing first class cricketers, with Old Stamfordian’s including recently named Pakistan test captain Shan Masood (OS06), along with Jake Tarling, (OS23), Josh Hull (OS22) Joey Evison, (OS20), and Zak Chappell, (OS14). Along with Old Stamfordian’s, the Schools produce a number of county level players year on year, with eight girls at U15 level currently part of the Leicestershire County Cricket Club squad, four at The Blaze, and six at Northants across various age groups. Six of our Year 12 students have been selected this year for the Leicestershire County Cricket Under 18s academy, along with a number of boys involved in county level cricket for Leicestershire, Huntingdonshire and Northants from Under 13s upwards.
